Spring, Texas has a fascinating history. It was founded in 1837 and is one of the oldest towns in Texas. In 1840, Spring had just 153 residents and was one square kilometer in size. The town proliferated thanks to its proximity to Houston and establishment as an essential stop on the railroad system. Old Town Spring, as it was known to early settlers, still stands today and is memorialized by the Spring Historical Museum.
Locals enjoy Spring’s picturesque small-town streets and easy access to the big city. There’s always lots to do in Spring, from outdoor fishing and recreation at Pundt Park to small business shopping and unique dining options at the bustling town center.

One of the main attractions in Spring is the Wunsche Brothers Cafe & Saloon. A Texas historical landmark, this establishment has been serving great food and cold beer since 1902. Founded by the town’s famed Wunsche Brothers, Dell and Charlie, this restaurant provides a unique historic atmosphere that’s fun for the whole family.
It can be hard to come by good authentic Italian cooking, but Spring is lucky enough to have the Adriatic Cafe. Run by two chefs who cooked in Venice, Italy, for years, locals know it as one of the best places to spend a great night out.
Spring is also home to a truly one-of-a-kind bar and cigar lounge, Prohibition Texas. For premium craft cocktails, excellent food, and a great time with friends and neighbors, everyone has a fun time here.
For can’t-beat-it Texas barbecue, all the locals have their parties and even weekday meals catered by CorkScrew BBQ. A neighborhood favorite, owners Will and Nichole have been creating delicious fresh barbecue for the community for over 12 years.
Things to Do
In the warmer months, it’s easy to cool down in Spring. You'll find games, rides, and summer fun just five minutes away at Hurricane Harbor Splash Town. In the winter, residents are wowed by The Light Park, a neighborhood favorite where folks drive through a magical display of festive lights.
Old Town Spring is where most of the action is found year-round. With over 100 small businesses, including hand-crafted artisans, raved-about restaurants, and historic museums, the town center has something for everyone to enjoy.
Spring’s interesting past is highlighted in the Spring Historic Ghost Walk for those brave enough to connect with the other side. Featuring stories of strange apparitions and loaded with interesting facts about the town, locals and tourists love this exciting and informational tour.
